DEAR BROTHERS, KINDLY SHARE THIS POST WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS.THIS PLAGUE IS CARVING THE FLESH OUT OF THE INDUSTRY SPOILING THE NAME, PUSHING OUR FELLOW SEAMEN INTO DEPTHS OF MISERY.PLS SPREAD THIS ..
This post is based on a report that appeared in a prominent Qatar daily. The article was featured in the front page and was regarding the rogue agents who functioned in Mumbai. My brother got scared reading the report and called me ASAP asking to retrieve the money that I advanced to my agent .A rough summary of it went like this:-
“There is a new kind of fraud agent mafia flourishing in the city of Mumbai. They maintain a well furnished office and make you convinced of their capabilities siting the work they did before as proof. They take advances from the cadet ranging between 1.5 to 2.5 lakhs hinting about a two month delay before joining, which is for the procedures. They make the candidate wait for as long as possible, mostly till the poor soul lose his patience and start to demand some action.Once the cadet finds out that he has been fooled he will succumb to the last resort. The helpless parents request for the money to be returned. That is when the rogue shows his true colour. The agent would arrange the rendezvous in a remote place, in the alibi of refunding the money. The cadet is forced to meet the agent only to be threatened by the villain and is given the only option of taking back the half or 60% of what he paid. The precious time spent waiting is lost in vain and the agent makes huge profits out of the money rolling it in finance.” So it goes
If you face the same situation ever, kindly stay back from meeting the guy alone, they may even harm you.A deck cadet from TS chanakya by name SKR(real initials) was cheated by an agent based in Nerul who took 2.8 lakhs as advance. Once he realized that he was fooled he filed a complaint in Nerul station and after rigorous efforts got 1.8 back thanks to the police and some political pressured. He is still running helter skelter for the rest of the money and also more importantly a job.
Before approaching some random agent in Mumbai, keep in mind all the possible dangers.Always find agents who previously recruited cadets and enquire well. Prevention is better than cure…
