INDIAS ONLY TRANSHIPMENT CONTAINER TERMINAL REMAINS AN IDLE SPECTATOR

INDIA LOSES MUCH NEEDED FOREIGN INCOME; KABOTASH REGULATION BECOMES A BLESSING FOR COLOMBO.
Kochi: While the Kabotash regulations sabotage the development of the Vallarpadam container transhipment terminal, competitors including Tanjung pelepas of Malaysia, Colombo, Salala & Dubai are flourishing from our business, transhipping containers from India to other foreign ports.Almost 7 million containers are handled in India per year and most of them are intervened by Colombo. This leads to huge loss of income to our country and its such a shame that we are unable to use our fully equipped resource to the mark. The 290000 million Vallarpadam project is limping in the dark and has marked zero development in the yesteryears.
Its a funny situation when our own rules are back stabbing ourselves. Owing to the this huge source of income our neighbours are spending huge amounts for the development of their respective ports. Its interesting to note that the small island nation which has no major industry or export spends a major part of their budjet for such projects.Lanka is also planning for a 1000 million dollar plan for Hambantota port with Chinese co-operation concentrating on services such as cement packing plant, sugar refinery, Warehousing etc.
While our so told patriots and politicians fight among themselves and against each other, others countries are earning huge money ,which would have come to our pockets, by playing sensibly. If we had shown a little seriousness in this matter, like we do to scandals and gossips the whole area would have been a business bigshot. We still have got plenty of time to think and act but its a pity to see the tax payer's money go waste like this. Its high time our governments give a thought about this and do the needful.
